Twin Towers behind Heart, Aug 29, 2019

Afternoon excursion with Kevin P. Bypassed downclimb after Grant MacEwan on East side of ridge but poor sidehilling with very little trail. Not recommended. Went back up downclimb which was difficult to low 5th class so stiffer than remember. Pics

Ha Ling August 15, 2019 Canmore

New trail is quite good. Good but crowded. Longer but lower angle. Lots of new rock steps/staircases and then several sets of suspended wooden stairs at treeline where the trail always eroded. It is designed for heavy use so that is good I guess. Pics

Ship’s Prow Mountain Sept 8, 2018 (AKA Lawrence Grassi Subpeak#2?)

Interesting scramble that is not in guide books.  About 1100 m and 10 km  8.5 hrs RT if go out on prow. The first part up to the col or the bump with big cairn is basically like Ha Ling without a trail so surprised that this doesn’t have a trail given proximity to Canmore. […]

McGillivray canyon nov

Quick afternoon 2-3 hours with my daughter.  Almost no water or else frozen so no harness needed. Scramble up some chains, cables(work gloves help) and walk some logs.  Fun litle trip in late fall with low water.

Ha Ling NE Buttress 5.6

Trad 5.6 rock climb with guide Mark Klassen and Kevin.  Not many good pics as we were concentrating on the climb and I creased the mechanical lens cover on my best small camera last week so had my old small camera.  A good climb with good positions on the rock . Lots of variety of […]
